I love lips. Lips are sexy. Lips are powerful. Lips can be playful and inviting. One can say that a woman's lips are the most attractive part of her body. Some would say that sexy lips on a man is also a turn on. During the first ten seconds after meeting a lady for the first time, the average man spends more than half his time gazing at her mouth. No matter the pairing, lips take center stage. And what woman, or man for that matter, doesn’t desire healthy, kissable lips?
Your lips, just like your fingers, have prints that are unique to you. No two pairs of lips are the same! And we can all benefit from taking care of them because these tender beauty attributes need it.
Here are 4 great tips to prevent the signs of premature aging and how your lips and life benefit.
As we get older, our lips can thin, get rough and start to develop lines around them if we don’t take the best care of them. As you age, fine lines around your lips can quickly appear for myriad reasons. That’s because this area is particularly delicate and is in nearly constant movement. It’s worth repeating - the best way to fight the signs of aging is to stay hydrated and moisturize your skin with the best natural lip product you can.
As a general rule: healthy lips look plumper. In fact, hydration is key if you want voluminous lips.
Our lips do not sweat and they don’t secrete protective oil. Why not? Because they don’t contain any sweat or sebaceous glands. These glands are responsible for producing the hydrolipidic film which protects the skin and keeps it hydrated. It’s therefore unsurprising that your lips are more vulnerable to wind, sun, cold and heat. They tend to dry more quickly than other areas on your body and benefit most by using a moisturizing lip balm. So, it’s important you look for a lip treatment that works best for you to keep your lips moist and healthy.
Prep Your Canvas
Are you a lipstick fan? The key to having your favorite color stay fresh and go on flawlessly is having healthy, moisturized lips. Nourish your lips before and after applying your makeup because lipstick tends to dry your lips. It’s preferable to wait a few minutes before applying your lipstick because the pigments in the product may have a hard time clinging to freshly moisturized lips. Use a lip mask or similar treatment at night to assure you have the best lips for applying make up the next morning. If your lips are moist, plump and hydrated you may actually fall in love with your lips and rely less on trying to camouflage them and find more products that naturally enhance them.
Bonus tip: Exfoliate them once or twice a week with a scrub to get rid of dead cells and then apply your nourishing lip balm, mask or treatment!
Just Because It’s Sexy
The mouth is one of the body’s most sensitive tactile organs. There are millions of nerve endings in lips, which makes them incredibly sensitive to heat, cold, touch, etc. Lips are one of the most innervated parts of our body, and can be considered an erogenous zone. So taking extra care of your lips can up your sex appeal, kissing game and even enhance your sex life!
Like many people, you probably have very demanding lips that love to be well taken care of. And though you may not realize, your lips are likely sensitive to harsh chemicals and ingredients that artificially hydrate, and it’s easy to know when they are being fooled. When considering a lip treatment, not just any product will do. Find a “clean” product that works for you!
I’ve personally lip tested products for decades in search of the Holy Grail. Up to this point, I had not found a lip treatment I truly loved, so the opportunity presented and we decided to create our own. We dived into research to find the best, cleanest, plant-based vegan ingredients to care for and nurture lips. I can honestly say my lips are finally happy.
We are very proud to introduce and share Overnight Replenishing Lip Mask. It’s a Lux Lip Therapy that I put on every night before bed and wake every morning to lush lips. To be honest, I use this Lip Mask during the day too and can’t wait to come out with our line of tinted glosses with the same hydrating, plumping and beautifying ingredients.
